Job Summary
Consultant to support Rainforest Alliance’s Amazon Bioeconomy Marketplace (ABM) project in Brazil. Responsibilities include establishing trust-based stakeholder engagement and coordination, conducting a rapid market assessment of bioeconomy activities, data collection and documentation of market information, conducting at least 10 stakeholder interviews, performing a situation analysis and diagnostics of bio-business capacities and export opportunities, and delivering practical recommendations to strengthen Brazil’s bioeconomy ecosystem. Deliverables include a work plan with methodology (8 days after contract signature), a data-collection/coordination document (50 days), a Situation Analysis and Diagnostics document (100 days), a final list of identified bio-businesses (170 days), and one designed PowerPoint presentation. Must deliver in English; proposal must include a fixed-price budget (USD 20,500). Required to be based in Pará, Brazil, with experience in bioeconomy, market development, and Indigenous communities; knowledge of gender and disability inclusion in value chains is valued. Skills include stakeholder engagement, rapid market assessment, data collection, interviews, analysis, and report writing.
Required Qualifications
- Academic background: University degree in economics, sustainable development, environmental sciences, or related fields
- Professional experience: At least 5 years of proven experience in applied research, market analysis, policy development or project management related to bioeconomy, sustainable development, or related sectors
- Regional experience: Minimum of 3 years of work experience in Brazil’s Amazon region or in similar economy contexts, preferably involving Indigenous communities
- Specific expertise: Demonstrated experience in value chain analysis, sustainable markets, and/or bio-businesses
- Languages: Fluency in English (Spanish a plus)
- Contract and documentation: Must have registry for business (CNPJ) and provide official fiscal documents (NF)
- Location requirement: Must be in the state of Pará, Brazil
Desired Qualifications
