Job Summary
Prioritize processing instruments and equipment for surgical procedures to facilitate case turnover. Follow instructions for instrument decontamination through sterilization processes and load, unload, and safely operate all sterilizers. Anticipate instrument needs for the following day, reassemble sets according to recipes, and inspect instruments for damage before packaging. Transport, handle, and store sterile instruments and supplies appropriately while maintaining clean work areas. Monitor and re-order instrumentation and reprocessing supplies, respond to requests from materials management and specialty areas, and maintain all sterilization records and policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Sterile Processing or Certified Technologist preferred program, or must be completed within 12 months of employment
- CSR or CST certification preferred
- Prior CSR, Surgical Technologist, CNA or CMA experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and prioritize needs of multiple departments
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Consistently demonstrates professional, courteous, customer service-based attitude
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control, and sterilization equipment
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
Desired Qualifications
