Job Summary
Plan, organize, and lead teen programs including afterschool activities, leadership clubs, and college readiness workshops. Actively engage with participants and families to build relationships while monitoring spaces to ensure safety and inclusivity. Serve as a mentor promoting character development and maintain accurate attendance and behavior records. Collaborate with staff to deliver consistent program quality, participate in training, and communicate regularly about needs. Maintain a clean facility, wear appropriate attire, and comply with all mandatory safety and abuse prevention policies. Work Monday through Friday evenings and weekends as program needs dictate.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age 18
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience working with teens in a school, camp, community, or youth program setting
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to connect with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competency
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills
- Strong customer service, problem solving, and communication skills with the ability to relate well to staff, volunteers, members, and the public
- Knowledge of facility and equipment management
- Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time
- Must be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device
- Must be able to sit and reach
- Must be able to move around the work environment
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Must have close vision
- Must have distance vision
- Must have the ability to adjust vision
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends based on program needs
- Must comply with YMCA abuse prevention policies, including screening, training, supervision, and reporting requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Some college coursework in youth development, education, social work, or related field
