Job Summary
Generate original exclusive story ideas daily and cultivate a strong network of sources across politics, crime, entertainment, and lifestyle sectors. Conduct interviews, research, and investigations to uncover breaking news, then produce engaging, accurate, and legally sound copy under tight deadlines. Monitor developing stories via court filings, public records, social media, and industry contacts while collaborating with editors, photographers, and video teams. Travel for reporting assignments when required to ensure all work meets the highest editorial, legal, and ethical standards. Contribute to follow-up coverage and longer-term investigative projects.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in digital, newspaper, magazine, television, or multimedia journalism
- Demonstrated track record of publishing exclusive, agenda-setting stories
- Outstanding reporting, interviewing, and writing skills
- Strong understanding of sourcing, verification, and fact-checking
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining exceptional accuracy
- Experience covering breaking news in a fast-paced newsroom
- Excellent news judgment and editorial instincts
- Comfortable juggling multiple stories and competing deadlines
- Knowledge of media law, ethics, and editorial standards
- Travel for reporting assignments when required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience obtaining public records and working with legal documents is advantageous
- Multimedia, video, podcast, or social media reporting experience is a plus
