Job Summary
Repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches. Perform a variety of rail car repair related tasks using pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, welders, cutting torches, forklifts, and cranes. Read specifications, shop drawings, and blueprints while working in a team environment. Maintain clean and orderly work areas, report potential hazards, and work in adverse weather conditions. Lift 50 pounds with proper body mechanics and climb, balance, and handle materials.
Required Qualifications
- Use a variety of tools and equipment such as pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, jacks, welders, cutting torches, forklifts, and cranes
- Read specifications, shop drawings, schematics, and blueprints
- Knowledgeable or willing to learn how to perform air brake test
- The ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials
- The ability to lift 50 pounds with proper body mechanics
- Ability to work within a teamwork environment with regular and predictable attendance
- Able to pass drug screen, physical
