Rental Field Service Technician

Job Summary

Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on customer and rental heavy equipment in the field. Source and order parts, perform welding and brazing, and fabricate modifications while completing all work orders and time sheets accurately. Operate vehicles and heavy machinery with proper licensing, maintain daily inspection records and driver logs, and photograph equipment as needed. Work overtime on short notice and adhere to strict safety procedures and quality standards. Requires a CDL license if applicable and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of complex hydraulics, electrical, computer and mechanical systems, arc and oxygen acetylene welding, test equipment used to diagnose and repair equipment and electronic components of vehicles
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment safely to diagnose, adjust, and repair malfunctions
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to read and understand operators and repair manuals
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to keep all required records
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information from schematics, technical manuals, technical drawings, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Basic computer skills (Windows based programs and email)
  • Possess and maintain an acceptable driving record according to company standards
  • Skilled in basic computer application programs
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL license if required
  • Must work overtime on short notice
  • Must keep truck and equipment clean and presenting the best impression possible to the public
  • Must be able to operate industry associated heavy equipment
  • Candidates must furnish their own tools
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL license if required

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Course work from accredited trade school, college or university with emphasis in mechanics, hydraulics, and automotive electronics is desirable
