Job Summary
Perform unsupervised corrective and preventative maintenance on utility-scale renewable energy assets, including electrical system troubleshooting, live electrical work, and HV substation inspections. Recommision PV and energy storage systems using advanced diagnostic tools like infrared cameras and IV curve tracers, while conducting performance evaluations and asset optimization. Lead daily safety meetings, identify hazards, and oversee the training and competency sign-off of lower-level technicians. Accurately complete maintenance logs, warranty documentation, and service reports, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for large PV plants and battery systems.
Required Qualifications
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years of renewable energy experience (Wind, Solar, and/or Battery Energy Storage System)
- Successful completion of the Technician 2 Standard, or equivalent external experience
- Must possess a valid current driver's license
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak clearly in French
- Successful completion of the Senior Renewable Energy Technician Qualification Standard
- Working knowledge of the National Electric Code
- Knowledge of industry related OSHA regulations
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Demonstrate competency in SAP for Resource Planning
- Demonstrate competency in SAP for Project Management
- Demonstrate competency in SAP for Resource allocation and budgeting
- Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic tools
- Understanding of system software
- Familiarity with the latest industry standards
- Ability to communicate clearly and instruct and train less experienced technicians
- Filling out and understanding safety documentation
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics
- Ability to read and understand drawings
- Ability to read and understand technical data
- Ability to read and understand construction documents
- Competence in the theory of Renewable Energy systems
- Knowledge of the generation theory of each system
- Knowledge in electrical safety and arc flash standards
