Job Summary
Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades on wind turbines, photovoltaic power plants, and energy storage systems under the supervision of an experienced technician. Perform Job Safety Assessments, apply LOTOs, and report site hazards while adhering to safety protocols. Participate in a 24-hour weekly on-call rotation and work outside business hours as needed. Document completed jobs, manage supply orders, and complete daily work orders and time tracking. Attend mandatory four-week training and certification courses in Albert Lea, MN, followed by on-site work in Cayuga, Ontario. Operate motor vehicles, climb structures to heights exceeding 300 feet, and work in extreme weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 2 years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards
- Must possess a valid current driver's license
- Must successfully meet organizational requirements to operate motor vehicles
- Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components of wind turbines/photovoltaic power and energy storage systems
- Familiar with CSA Z462 / NFPA 70E
- Ability to identify the appropriate PPE required for specific tasks and environments
- Basic understanding of schematics
- Ability to use a multi-meter correctly
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand, read, write, and speak clearly in French
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights more than 91 meters (300 feet)
- Ability to work at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights
- Ability to work in an electrical-mechanical environment
- Ability to be comfortable with working in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain
- Ability to be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Must be able to stand, crouch, walk, and work for extended periods of time
- Must be able to operate company vehicles (field trucks) on site and on public roads and highways
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel
- Must possess good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for working with small parts and tools
- Must possess good vision and hearing to frequently detect potential hazards and communicate effectively with team members
- Must be able to work in an electrical-mechanical environment
- Must be able to work on platforms or skids
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Must be able to work eight (8) hours a day, forty (40) hours a week
- Must be able to work overtime and night shifts as required
- Must be able to work outside business hours when needed
- Must be able to attend safety and technical training required for this position
- Must be able to successfully complete applicable safety and technical training program for the entry level technician
- Must be able to properly complete Job Safety Assessments
- Must be able to apply LOTOs by following LOTO plans & procedures
- Must be able to identify & report all safety hazards on jobsite
- Must be able to suggest improvements
- Must be able to attend safety meetings
- Must be able to participate in the 24hr/weekly On Call rotation
- Must be able to work in the renewable asset field

- Must be able to attend a mandatory four (4) week training and certification course at the start of their employment
- Must be able to travel to Albert Lea, MN
