Renewable Energy Engine Plant Technician

Job Summary

Manage the Landfill Gas to Energy Facility to maximize production while ensuring safe work practices, environmental compliance, and timely maintenance. Own production capacity planning to reduce operating expenses and limit equipment downtime. Inspect ongoing activities for safety, adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, and air permit requirements including emissions testing. Coordinate all third-party vendors for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and manage relationships with power/gas purchasers to ensure compliance with contracts. Repair, maintain, and service all plant machinery, handling non-routine repairs with immediate judgment. Respond to plant shutdowns during non-business hours to diagnose causes and restore operation. Maintain facility spare inventory, conduct plant tours for community relations, and represent WMRE as the on-site technical expert. Identify backup staff to ensure continuous 24/7/365 coverage for emergencies.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • 5 years of relevant work experience diagnosing and repairing internal combustion engines and cooling systems
  • Must have valid drivers license
  • Fundamental knowledge of computer data entry and interpretation
  • Must be able to successfully manage fiduciary responsibilities
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 lbs
  • Must be able to travel up to 15% with overnight stays
  • Must be able to diagnose and repair DC circuits 12/24 volts
  • Basic knowledge of 120/240/480 3ph volt AC circuits
  • Understand concepts of 4160 volt circuits
  • Must be familiar with basic principles of building maintenance
