Job Summary

Coordinate and instruct regional training courses, providing routine on-site technical assistance to operators in villages regarding water treatment, wastewater collection, and equipment maintenance. Maintain contact with community leaders and local government officials, attend council meetings, and provide emergency assistance to prevent catastrophic system failures. Deliver remote technical support via phone and email for troubleshooting, equipment ordering, and regulatory compliance issues. Conduct facility plan reviews and provide comments to engineering organizations while obtaining provisional water and wastewater certifications within one year of hire. Requires substantial travel via large and small aircraft, more than 50% of the time, with potential exposure to inclement weather and extreme temperatures.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year working in water, wastewater, maintenance or related field
  • 4 years working in water, wastewater, maintenance or related field
  • Must obtain provisional water and wastewater certifications within one year of hire and advance as eligible
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater plumbing, heating and electrical systems including pumps, motors, hot water boilers, heating systems, pressure tanks, compressors, water treatment systems, electical control panels, circulating systems, pipes, valves, etc.
  • Sufficient mechanical skills and ability to train local operators to operate, maintain and troubleshoot water and wastewater systems
  • Good organizations skills with attention to detail
  • Affective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage their time and organize their work to ensure efficient performance
  • Ability to follow policy, procedure and instructions
  • Ability to actively communicate with their supervisors to ensure understanding
  • Ability to understand and manage patient/customer confidentiality
  • Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment
  • Sit less than half the workday
  • Stand and/or walk more than half the workday
  • Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach
  • View electronic monitors for prolonged periods of time
  • Use hands and arms for repetitive motion tasks
  • Lift or carry unaided up to 50 pounds
  • Push or pull using more than moderate force
  • See and hear with normal acuity
  • Substantial travel is required (more than 50% of the time)
