Job Summary
Remote CPE/PreOp Eval Nurse conducts comprehensive preoperative assessments to ensure patients are medically optimized and prepared for scheduled surgical or procedural care. Responsibilities include medical history review, medication reconciliation, allergy verification, evaluation of comorbid conditions, coordinating with anesthesia and surgical teams, providing patient education on preoperative instructions and perioperative expectations, documenting assessments in the EMR, and supporting infection prevention and quality initiatives. The role requires strong critical thinking, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, and excellent communication to clarify orders and ensure timely completion of preoperative testing and readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- PACU/PreOP or PreOP eval nursing experience required
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and clinical judgment skills
- Excellent communication, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and strong organizational/documentation skills
- Adheres to all CARE standards
- Must demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities
- Must be able to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills
