Job Summary
Monitor competitor, product, underwriting, pricing, distribution, technology, and market signals to identify meaningful shifts, risks, and opportunities. Translate raw intelligence into concise executive-ready outputs using the Insight → Implication → Action framework. Build and maintain the core CI toolkit, including market watch summaries, competitor profiles, scorecards, dashboards, and quarterly executive reviews. Prioritize work based on decision impact and feasibility, conducting ad hoc deep dives on competitor moves and new entrants. Partner with Product, Underwriting, Distribution, Marketing, and Sales teams to validate findings and convert insights into action. Support quarterly executive reviews, monthly market summaries, and rapid-response briefs while using AI-enabled tools to accelerate signal gathering and workflow automation.
Required Qualifications
- 5-8+ years of experience in competitive intelligence, market intelligence, strategy, product strategy, management consulting, corporate development, analytics, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills, including benchmarking, gap analysis, market mapping, trend analysis, and synthesis of qualitative and quantitative information
- Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguity, structure new problem spaces, and convert incomplete information into clear conclusions, practical implications, and recommended actions for senior decision-makers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create concise, executive-ready briefs, presentations, and decision support materials
- Comfort working with cross-functional stakeholders and influencing action without direct authority
- High intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, attention to detail, and sound judgment about what matters most
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and research tools
- Competitive and market intelligence: ability to monitor competitors, market signals, product moves, underwriting shifts, distribution changes, technology developments, and emerging trends
- Strategic analysis and synthesis: ability to convert fragmented information into clear insights, implications, and recommended actions
- Executive communication: ability to produce concise, decision-ready briefs, summaries, presentations, and recommendations for senior leaders
- Structured problem solving: ability to define ambiguous problems, develop analytical frameworks, and prioritize the questions that matter most
- Research and source validation: ability to gather, assess, organize, and validate information from public, industry, internal, and partner sources
- Quantitative and qualitative analysis: ability to perform benchmarking, gap analysis, market mapping, trend analysis, and basic business or financial analysis
- Knowledge management and content organization: ability to build and maintain a structured intelligence repository, source library, competitor profiles, moves log, and market watch archive
- Cross-functional collaboration: ability to partner with Product, Underwriting, Distribution, Marketing, Sales, and executive stakeholders to validate findings and drive action
- Business judgment and prioritization: ability to focus on the highest-impact questions, avoid over-reporting, and produce outputs that can be sustained by a lean team
- AI-enabled workflow leverage: ability to use Copilot, automation, and related tools to accelerate signal gathering, summarization, classification, and repeatable reporting while maintaining human judgment
- Tools and presentation skills: proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, research tools, and ideally BI or dashboard tools
