Job Summary
Plan, teach, and assess students in primary school aged classes (P-6) at Autism Queensland Cairns School using an alternative, flexible model of learning. Deliver a holistic, strengths-based, and neuro-affirming approach to empower autistic students to thrive in small groups of up to eight learners. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of teacher aides, therapists, and behaviour support practitioners to provide wide-ranging support dependent on individual student needs. Maintain current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers and hold demonstrated experience with school-aged autistic children. Provide First Aid and CPR qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Education, Special Education, or Inclusive Education
- Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
- Demonstrated experience with school aged autistic children
- Provide First Aid including Provide CPR qualification (or willing to obtain)
- Demonstrated understanding of current principles and practices for supporting students with diverse learning needs across a range of environments
