Job Summary

Direct client contact in all aspects of service necessary for the comfort and safety of individuals accessing shelter services, carrying your own caseload within a client-centered perspective. Develop personalized counseling plans while maintaining a caseload, applying a trauma-informed, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and feminist framework. Work from a knowledge of issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and developmental disabilities, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. This role requires rotating days, afternoons, weekends, and occasional night shifts.

  • Possess a working knowledge of issues related to gender-based violence, trauma, homelessness, mental health and substance use
  • Work from a trauma-informed, anti-racist, anti-oppressive and feminist framework
  • Experience supporting the development of personalized counseling plans and maintaining a caseload
  • Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
  • A post-secondary education in a social service/related field or lived experience working with vulnerable individuals
  • Good knowledge of social service agencies and community resources
  • Have a strong understanding of harm reduction principles
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication
  • Must have interpersonal skills
  • Must have good organization skills
  • Must have ability to prioritize case workload
  • A valid C.P.R. certification
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Computer literacy including Word, Excel

Desired Qualifications

  • Residential caseload experience
