Job Summary
Relief Rig Operator at Axis Odessa, TX leads a 4–5-person workover rig crew, operating and maintaining the workover rig per company procedures and customer requirements. Responsibilities include crew preparation, inspection, setup and teardown of the rig, routine equipment troubleshooting, lifting and removing equipment, safety training and program adherence, and possible non-scheduled shifts to meet customer needs. Requires a high school diploma or GED, valid driver license with acceptable MVR, CDL preferred, and 5+ years of workover rig experience with 2+ years in Derrick/Floor Hand roles; ability to lift up to 75 lbs, work at heights, and travel as needed. Emphasis on safety, teamwork, customer service, and compliance with safety and operational standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent
- Must have valid state issued driver license with acceptable motor vehicle records (MVR); Class A or B CDL a plus/preferred
- Five (5) years of workover rig experience; minimum two (2) years Rig Operator experience; at least two (2) years (prefer 3 years) Derrick Hand and Floor Hand experience
- Working knowledge of basic service mechanical functions
- Ability to lift heavy equipment up to 75 lbs
- Access to work environment via ladder at heights of 50 ft. or more
- Long periods of standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching
- Ability to use protective equipment, H2S respirator where required
- Must be able to travel as job requires
- Work may be performed in all weather conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
