Job Summary
Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary treatment team in psychiatric outpatient clinic settings to provide crisis intervention services, individual, family, and group psychotherapy, and case management for pediatric patients and their families. Assist with diagnosis and assessment, develop treatment plans, and implement interventions while coordinating resources and community referrals. Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, submit claims with psychiatric diagnoses, and report to child protective services or law enforcement per legal mandates. Maintain current documentation of assessments, treatments, and referrals in compliance with hospital standards and payer requirements. Provide in-service presentations to staff and coordinate care with primary care providers, schools, and community mental health systems.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or closely related degree program as approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences from an accredited college or university
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
- Valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
- Ability to apply theories, principles and practices of medical social work and of social services delivery systems in a hospital or medical center setting
- Ability to gather data needed to assess needs of patients and families
- Ability to manage a caseload, recall case details; maintain confidentiality of information; determine the appropriate course of action in emergencies and other stressful situations
- Ability to provide written case narratives and reports
- Ability to work with multicultural groups
- Knowledge of and ability to apply effective psychiatric assessment, interviewing, and counseling techniques
- Knowledge of and ability to apply social work theories, principles, and techniques
- Knowledge of community and medical center resources to access and provide for patient care needs, and act on behalf of client needs to obtain necessary services
- Knowledge of needs, problems, attitudes, and behavior of hospital patients and their families
Desired Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
