Job Summary
Provide counseling and guidance to clients in housing programs under Program Manager supervision. This is a part-time, on-call role focused on inspiring clients, modeling appropriate life skills, maintaining safety in community spaces, assisting with social-emotional challenges, conducting rounds and facilitating interventions, and supporting staff with client wellness and safety. Responsibilities include facilitating access control, basic janitorial/maintenance tasks, responding to emergencies with staff and external responders, and collaborating to ensure continuum of services. Shifts include Day (8AM-4PM), Swing (4PM-12AM), and Overnight (12AM-8AM) with a $1 shift differential; bilingual incentive pay ($1.50) is offered for Spanish-English fluency. In-person work across SF housing sites, including Tenderloin and one East Bay site in Berkeley; remote work is not possible. Requires a passion for the mission, client-centered and trauma-informed approaches, and willingness to work holidays. Perks include a competitive hourly rate of $23/hour plus differential and incentives, with potential priority for internal full-time roles.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for the mission of Larkin Street Youth Services
- Ability to work in-person at housing programs across San Francisco and East Bay
- Willingness to work holidays as needed
- Experience noticing symptoms of use and abuse, recovery, and treatment philosophies
- Team player with dependable and personable demeanor
- Commitment to trauma-informed care and client-centered approaches
