Job Summary
The Certified Dialysis Technician coordinates the technical component of dialysis operations, directs workflow in the Dialysis Center, and ensures safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include assisting in training/orienting new staff to water treatment systems and equipment setup; routine cleaning and disinfection of water treatment systems; communicating observed technical problems to the Patient Care Manager; performing daily machine setup procedures for mobile acute dialysis therapies; maintaining infection control standards and unit safety; supporting equipment evaluations with management; organizing stocks and supplies; recording pre/post dialysis vital signs and patient charts; coordinating patient therapies with the Resource Nurse; and ensuring clear communication with nursing staff and other personnel. Required skills and qualifications emphasize age-appropriate patient interaction, teamwork, accurate reading/writing/calculation tasks, color-blindness screening, and adherence to licensure/certification requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Board Nephrology Exam Nrs Tech by Board of Nephrology Examiners for Nursing & Technology
- Certified Clinical Nephrology Technician by National Nephrology Certification Organization
- NNCC Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician by Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission
- RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support
- Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA)
- Certified Hemodialysis Technician by California Department of Public Health - Professional Certification Branch
