Job Summary

Monitor individuals for health and safety, safeguard their dignity, rights, and liberties, and safely evacuate them during fires or disasters. Physically escort or restrain individuals during emergencies, assist with bathing, transfers, and personal hygiene tasks, and provide support for body weights up to 250 pounds. Educate individuals on goals and objectives, assist with meal preparation, and accompany them to places of worship. Maintain records, document daily data, complete incident reports, and ensure residence housekeeping and cleaning. Work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays, with a minimum of three shifts per month, and remain on duty after scheduled hours if not relieved. Maintain First Aid, CPR, Safety Care, Applied Non-Violence, and PBS certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Degree or G.E.D.
  • Must be 21+ years old
  • Valid driver's license
  • Daily use of a car on site
  • Available by telephone for daily contact
  • First Aid, CPR & Safety Care certifications
  • Certification in Applied Non-Violence
  • Certification in Safety Care
  • Certification in PBS
  • Ability to work up to twelve hours at a time
  • Ability to lift and/or transfer/move individuals
  • Ability to physically assist individuals in bathing and personal hygiene tasks
  • Ability to physically assist individuals in transfer and carries
  • Ability to safely evacuate individuals in the event of fire or disaster
  • Ability to remain on duty after scheduled hours if not relieved
  • Ability to work a minimum of 3 shifts every month
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to be reassigned from one program to another without prior notice
  • Ability to communicate with the Residential Logistics Director at least once every two weeks
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to consistently incorporate individual's therapeutic goals into daily activities

  • Ability to implement Agency policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and positive demeanor while juggling multiple priorities
  • Ability to display professional attitude and behavior
  • Ability to demonstrate a high regard for each person and sensitivity for cultural values
  • Ability to focus on providing consumer satisfaction as primary goal
  • Ability to assist individuals to identify, develop and participate in meaningful activities

  • Ability to follow the learning style and implementation strategy as outlined in DHSP
  • Ability to educate and train individuals in goals and objectives specified in ISP and behavior plan
  • Ability to educate and assist individuals with meal preparation
  • Ability to educate, transport, accompany and provide supervision to individuals in/to their place of worship
  • Ability to physically escort/restrain individuals during emergency situations or behavioral episodes
  • Ability to monitor individuals for health and safety
  • Ability to ensure and safeguard individuals' human dignity, rights, and liberties
  • Ability to maintain records and document daily data
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with individuals, staff, families, community members and others
  • Ability to provide emergency coverage to include overnights and direct care coverage
  • Ability to handle related job duties in compliance with the Agency Policy and Procedure Manual
  • Ability to perform daily housekeeping and cleaning of residence
  • Ability to use the restroom
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or transfer/move individuals in and out of wheelchairs, vehicles, up from and down to a mat
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or transfer/move individuals weighing 150 - 250 pounds
