Job Summary

Conduct maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification of rolling stock while executing planned preventative maintenance to defined specifications. Manage in-service failures and act as a Designated Person to ensure safe systems of work for staff, contractors, and passengers. Adhere to local, company, and industry safety procedures, including depot protection protocols, and ensure accurate completion of work records and technical reports within the electronic Maintenance Management System. Operate powered plant equipment and instruct new entrants, apprentices, and contractors on maintenance procedures. Commit to a minimum 14-month period to build expertise and support service continuity for London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed appropriate apprenticeship or hold relevant qualifications in electrical / mechanical engineering as specified by current company policy
  • Road Vehicle driving licence and authority to drive Railway Service vehicles
  • Emergency First Aid (Compulsary)
  • PTS / Designated Person Trained (if required)
  • Power Plant equipment trained
  • E2 Competent
  • Some specific additional skills in this grade group ie Lathe Operator, Welder, Carriage repairer/painter
  • commit to a minimum 14-month period in role after achieving competence

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of WM Trains maintained rolling stock (be prepared to undertake appropriate training)
