Job Summary

Reliability Engineer located in Altoona, PA, responsible for the reliability and assessment of Pennsylvania's electric distribution systems. Develop and maintain long-range plans to improve system reliability, oversee infrastructure improvement planning (LTIIP), and support data-driven reliability projects such as outages, circuit lockouts, DEMI, CEMI, and WPC. Prepare reliability performance and regulatory reports, assist with customer inquiries and power quality studies, monitor field inoperable equipment logs, and ensure compliance with state regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the Distribution Control Center to ensure safe, efficient operation of the electrical system, and support the storm process as needed (hazard dispatcher/analyst/line shop analyst). Requires a BS in engineering or related field (or equivalent) with ABET-accredited program, PE license or advanced degree as alternative, 0-5 years of experience, knowledge of NEC/NESC, driving license, willingness to travel, and strong analytical/communication skills. On-site at the Altoona Service Center; travel within PA service territory and occasional extra hours. Safety-focused culture with comprehensive benefits package.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering / Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited institution (or equivalent)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license OR a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field plus an advanced degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Minimum 0 - 5 years' engineering experience
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, operations, and maintenance practices; switching and tagging; computer systems; work management; electrical controls; relay control experience a plus
  • Current knowledge of NESC and NEC
  • Ability to analyze data, write technical reports, develop work packages, handle multiple assignments
  • Strong communication across functional boundaries; customer-focused; team player
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel throughout service territory; willingness to work extra/irregular hours
  • Safety consciousness and risk management appreciation
  • Ability to develop reliability performance targets and regulatory reports
  • Experience with outage projects, CEMI, DEMI, WPC is desirable
  • Familiarity with LTIIP (long-term infrastructure improvement plans)
  • Support for Distribution Control Center operations
  • Hazard dispatcher/storm analysis or line shop analyst experience preferred
  • Eligible to work in the United States
