Job Summary
Accurately receive and process requests for patient information according to time frames and departmental goals. Evaluate requests across categories including treatment, payment, healthcare operations, and specific requestors such as commercial insurance, workmen's compensation, social services, disability, Medicare, Champus, courts, attorneys, and law enforcement. Enter daily requests into the medical records ROI module to maintain an audit trail, assign tracking numbers, and update logs with specific actions, dates, and completion statuses. Consult supervisors, directors, privacy officers, or staff counsel as necessary to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA Privacy Standards. Assist the hospital workforce with questions regarding continuing care treatment, insurance payment, and healthcare operations, while routing communications to appropriate personnel. File, retrieve, and track charts accurately; assist with clerical backups and verify policies where applicable.
