Job Summary
Conduct a 9-10 month hands-on service year dedicated to designing and building simple AI-powered apps that address specific community problems in Baltimore. Engage authentically with colleagues, community members, and mentors while modeling core competencies like failing forward and treating relationships as wealth. Follow a structured Development Cycle to collect ideas, build prototypes, reflect on the process, and gather actionable feedback from youth, volunteers, and staff. Practice writing clear prompts to construct high-quality applications using no-code tools, progressively taking ownership of the workflow from initial guidance to independent project execution. Partner with a community organization to develop a tool that supports their real-world work, culminating in a final portfolio presentation. Commit to full-time service (30-40 hours/week, Monday-Friday) and required professional development training.
Required Qualifications
- Maryland resident
- age 18+
- meets MC/SYO eligibility requirements
- Service Year Option track: ages 18-24 with a high school diploma or equivalent
- Maryland Corps track: any eligible adult 18+
- Able to commit to full-time service (30-40 hrs/week, generally Monday-Friday during business hours) for the full 9-10 month term
- commitment to required MC/SYO professional development training
