Reinvestigation Specialist I - Public Records

Job Summary
Evaluate case details to determine the validity of consumer disputes regarding public or criminal records, confirming authenticity and obtaining additional details from internal and external sources. Conduct thorough reinvestigations by identifying the source of disputed information, contacting data furnishers such as courts, credit bureaus, and motor vehicle departments to validate accuracy, and interpreting court documents to assess reportability impacts. Exercise daily judgment to finalize dispute outcomes while maintaining strict adherence to FCRA, DOT regulations, and internal reporting guidelines. Maintain a detailed audit trail of all documentation, verification responses, and notifications throughout the reinvestigation process.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Keen attention to detail
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members
- Professional written and oral communication skills (English)
- Adherence to strict confidentiality standards
- Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision
- Ability to read and understand consumer reports
- Experience with MS Office products such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
- good keyboarding skill
- 2+ years experience in HireRight Public Records, Customer Service and/or Adjudication teams or related field
- 2+ years working in a highly regulated environment
- experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act
- 3+ years experience in Consumers Report Request as DSRIII
Desired Qualifications
- college degree
