ReIntegration Social Worker

Job Summary

Conduct assessment, counselling, and referrals for clients experiencing poverty, homelessness, and substance use disorders. Administer direct client care, facilitate group interventions using DBT, and perform emergency interventions as needed. Empower clients to maximize community supports while documenting interactions and progress on platforms. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, external agencies, and the Reintegration Supervisor to provide comprehensive case management. Build a library of community resources and assist with new initiatives, training, and administrative duties. Work between the Health and Wellness Centre, local sites, and Remand Centers, including local travel in extreme weather.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work
  • Registered and in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Work (or the ability to become registered)
  • Valid Driver's License (Class 5) including a clean driving abstract and access to a reliable vehicle and two million in liability insurance
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • A satisfactory employment background check and/or vulnerable sector check required
  • As The Mustard Seed is a Christian ministry, we require our employees sign an agreement indicating that they will respect and not detract from our Statement of Faith

Desired Qualifications

  • A passion to be part of ending homelessness in Alberta
  • Minimum two years' experience working in Mental Health is an asset
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and incarcerated individuals an asset
  • Proven record of mental health assessment, counseling, and ability to implement a plan of care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Calgary/Edmonton's community (mental) health and addiction resources, and adept in navigating those systems
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs)
  • Experience with Homeless Management Information System (HMIS/ETO)
  • Good organizational, time management skills and advocacy skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills
