Job Summary
Reinsurance Accountant role focused on technical, financial accounting of premiums, claims and reserves, reviewing reinsurance contracts, processing settlements, generating reports, and advising stakeholders. The role emphasizes collaboration with reinsurers, process improvement, maintaining SOPs, and ongoing training. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and at least 3 years in reinsurance accounting, strong Excel skills, relationship management, attention to detail, English fluency, and travel readiness. Location is remote across numerous U.S. states; role involves interfacing with internal teams and external carriers to ensure compliant and efficient reinsurance accounting processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in reinsurance accounting, insurance or similar financial area
- Proficiency in MS Office, primarily Excel, Outlook, Teams
- Skilled at building and maintaining internal and external (carrier) relationships
- Strong attention to detail and focus on metrics
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability and willingness to travel by car or airplane for meetings, conferences, or other business-related functions
