Job Summary
Post charges for Surgery, Emergency Room, observation, and Delivery/High Risk Antepartum/Testing/Triage services under Revenue Cycle Management direction. Review medical records to ensure clinical documentation supports accurate coding and resolve Correct Coding Initiative edits independently. Educate clinical staff on documentation accuracy and assist with appeals or audits. Mentor and train other Reimbursement Specialists while resolving billing, coding, or collection issues. Requires four years of healthcare charging experience, coding certification, and proficiency in medical terminology. Background screening through The Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse is mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of four (4) years of health care experience involving charging practices and patient flow processes
- Coding certification
- High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
Desired Qualifications
- Clinical certification from a recognized health care credentialing organization in a specialty area (i.e. RRA, RT, VI, CI, RCIS, RVS, SCFA and CST)
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
- Working knowledge of commonly used computer applications
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated proficiency with medical terminology
- Demonstrated proficiency with specific charging and coding as it applies to various departments (i.e. Surgery, Emergency Room, Observation, or Delivery/High Risk Antepartum/Testing/Triage)
