Job Summary
Execute all aspects of the authorization process promptly, efficiently, and accurately. Anticipate customer needs by listening for cues and identifying appropriate response levels or intervention requirements. Communicate daily with provider groups and health plans regarding UM and referral authorization issues, faxing or calling in prior authorization requests. Process approved, denied, or deferred requests to bring them to resolution while maintaining deferred authorization tracking and follow-up. Maintain reference materials provided by leadership and ensure strict HIPAA compliance when handling patient confidentiality. Return phone calls to customers and immediately report any errors to the appropriate manager. Support the team approach by assisting other staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to type 45+wpm
- Proficient in Windows XP, Microsoft word, and Outlook
- Ability to multi task and follow directives
- Excellent with time management
- Demonstrate professionalism in tasks and daily interactions with others
- Efficient with time management
- Prior experience working in a medical setting
