Job Summary
Conduct patient-related activities and department operations under the supervision of a Licensed Therapist. Perform specific treatments including hydrocollator packs, ultrasound, massage, electrical stimulation, and whirlpool maintenance. Assist with patient transfers, ambulatory training, and safe practice of strength and endurance activities. Maintain a clean therapy department by changing linens, cleaning equipment, and restocking supplies. Handle clerical duties such as telephone answering, reception support, and filing. Requires high school diploma, basic computer skills, and willingness to work full-time hours up to 40 weeks with some weekend availability.
Required Qualifications
- Must have completed twelfth grade level of school
- Must have completed in-service training program
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must be able to learn new programs
- Must be competent with mathematics
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to do a great deal of walking without experiencing extreme fatigue
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment supplies and materials up to 50 lbs without help
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment supplies and materials over 50 lbs with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel
- Must be able to accept responsibility and respect authority
- Must demonstrate good judgement and common sense
- Must be willing to work under pressure
- Must be able to accept constructive criticism
- Must be able to hold in confidence all matters of a personal nature regarding the patient and/or his family
- Must be able to work with individuals of all ages from neonates to geriatrics
- Must be available to work full time hours (up to 40 hours/week and some weekends may be required)
- Must have previous experience in a medical setting
Desired Qualifications
- Experience is highly desirable
- Some college preferred
- Previous experience as a Physical Therapy Aide in another facility
- Source of Workers: Nurses Aides or Attendants within the medical field
