Job Summary
Lead and project-manage cross-functional teams to deliver major regulatory filings with state commissions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely execution of discovery responses and witness testimony. Partner with business leaders to evaluate regulatory risks, develop compelling narratives, and shape filing strategies that support cost recovery and earnings realization. Serve as the central coordinator for filings involving executive leadership, legal counsel, finance, and operations, while mentoring junior staff and maintaining alignment across diverse stakeholders. Manage multiple concurrent priorities under tight deadlines, often requiring on-call availability during weekends or holidays to meet commission-imposed filing dates. Occasional travel is required for hearings and stakeholder meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business, Economics, Engineering or Finance
- Minimum of 6 years of experience with emphasis on one or more of the following - utility accounting and applications, rates, tariff development and application, commercial operations, management, and/or other pertinent experience
- Strong project management skills, including planning, coordination, and execution of complex, deadline-driven workstreams
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams and leadership levels
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools for data analysis and tracking
- Familiarity with regulatory processes and terminology in utility or other regulated industries
- Experience managing complex, compliance-driven, financial, legal, operational, or regulatory projects
- Ability to adapt quickly, solve problems, and drive results in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable managing multiple concurrent priorities, navigating ambiguity, and making progress through collaboration and influence
- Working knowledge of utility regulatory processes, including commission procedures, discovery, and testimony development
- Ability to read and interpret state legislative and administrative code as it applies to filing requirements
- Understanding of cost recovery and ratemaking principles
- Awareness of industry trends, peer utility filings, and evolving regulatory policies
- Collaborative working across departments and with varying levels of leadership, including legal, finance, operations, and executive teams
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across a large organization
- Additional Requirements: May be required to work 'on-call' during weekends, holidays, or scheduled time off to meet regulatory deadlines or commission-imposed filing dates
- Occasional travel required for hearings, stakeholder meetings, witness support, training, and other regulatory-related events
Desired Qualifications
- Electric utility experience
- Previous leadership experience
- Preferred (but not required) Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM) or formal training
- Experience working in a regulated industry such as utilities, energy, or telecommunications
- Experience leading large, cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and executive-level visibility
- Knowledge of electric distribution, transmission and generation
