Regulatory and Compliance Counsel (f/m/d)

Job Summary
Lead the company’s regulatory and compliance program across EU/UK frameworks (GDPR, DORA, AML) and co-own IT security initiatives (ISO 27001, SOC2). Shape AI governance under the EU AI Act, monitor EU/UK regulatory developments, and perform regulatory analyses for market entry. Responsible for regulatory filings related to M&A activity and for managing compliance and IT aspects of vendors/procurement. Ensure ongoing obligations under financial/regulatory regimes (AIFMD, FATCA/CRS, Bundesbank filings) and contribute to the company’s risk management strategy, working directly with the General Counsel in a small, agile legal team.
Required Qualifications
- Completed studies in law (e.g., German Second State Exam, J.D., LL.B./LL.M. or equivalent qualification)
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience in compliance, risk and regulatory matters, ideally in a regulated in-house environment
- Experience with cross-border, multi-entity company groups and managing regulatory and compliance issues across borders
- Affinity for IT security and the engineering aspects of security
- Interest in taking on broader legal, operational and strategic workstreams within a start-up
- Excellent written and spoken English (C1+) and solid German skills (B2+)
