Regulatory Analyst Intern (8-Month Fixed-Term Contract)

Job Summary

Collaborate daily with traders and compliance specialists to ensure deal structures align with evolving carbon pricing and renewable energy frameworks. Monitor, interpret, and summarize subnational and supranational rules, flagging upcoming changes and risks while investigating comparative compliance-credit programs in EU, U.S., and Asia-Pacific markets. Quantify credit generation pathways, map registry procedures, and maintain a living database of program requirements and regulatory interpretations. Produce briefing notes, dashboards, and decision memos highlighting market impacts, applying engineering judgment to evaluate low-carbon fuel pathways and emissions-intensity calculations. Leverage AI-driven research tools and policy-text mining to accelerate regulatory intelligence gathering. Build relationships with regulators and industry groups to represent Targray in public consultations. This 8-month fixed-term remote role in Belgium offers a pathway to full-time employment for strong performers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, environmental markets, regulatory analysis, engineering consulting, finance, or data analytics
  • 1 or more years of experience in energy, sustainability, environmental markets, regulatory/policy analysis, engineering consulting, finance, or data analytics
  • Demonstrated understanding of European climate policy, including within renewable energy and emissions
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to distill legislation, technical standards, and regulatory guidance into clear business language
  • Advanced Excel/Sheets skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • English required
  • Self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced trading-floor environment and can balance detail-oriented research with commercial urgency

Desired Qualifications

  • Environmental engineering background
  • Co-op or internship experience in climate, energy, fuels, carbon markets, or environmental compliance
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or other data-analysis tools
  • Demonstrated ability or strong interest in using generative AI and data-science tools to improve research, analysis, and reporting
  • French considered an advantage
