Job Summary
Conduct detailed inspections on in-use compliance and certification vehicles, preparing them for emissions, PEMS, and coast-down testing. Perform minor repairs, vehicle diagnoses, parts removal, and fabrication while instrumenting vehicles and collecting data. Support Test Ops engineering teams, maintain the department loaner fleet, track fixed assets, and ensure equipment calibrations. Create and present reports as assigned, proactively resolving issues related to EPA and CARB testing processes. Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or Automotive Trade School
- Automotive Technology or Repair and Services
- ASE or State of MI automotive certificate(s)
- 3-5 years experience
- 1-3 years working in automotive repair and services. Vehicle instrumentation and fab work.
- 1-3 year vehicle emission testing
- Automotive repair / service
- Emission testing
- EV / PHEV / HEV testing
- Project management
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Knowledge of compliance and certification testing
- EV or high voltage safety
- Exceptional organization and communication skills, both oral and written
- Conflict resolution between test requestors and test entities
- Travel up to 15% of time domestically and internationally
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
