Job Summary
Conduct pre-registration and registration processes, verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and calculate patient liabilities. Collect deposits and copayments while accurately documenting all information into patient records systems. Perform bedside registrations as assigned to expedite completion, obtain necessary signatures on legal forms, and provide financial counseling to patients and families. Act as a liaison between patients, the billing department, and payors to resolve outstanding issues and maximize account receivables. Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, and Health Information Management Services to address patient concerns while meeting productivity standards. Maintain accurate production logs, transport patients if assigned, collect valuables, and post daily deposits in accordance with established policies and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge as normally acquired with one (1) or more years of related work experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously between heavy phone volume, multiple computer systems and frequent interruptions with minimal supervision and ability to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to handle ongoing face-to-face contact with patients and staff while functioning in a busy medical office environment
- Strong knowledge in the use of common office software
- Word processing skills
- Spreadsheet software skills
- Database software skills
- Variable shifts and hours
- On-call duties
