Job Summary
Coordinate patient care in the Intensive Care Unit, assisting with drug administration, diagnostic testing, sample collection, and anesthesia induction and recovery under clinician direction. Maintain accurate medical records, observe patient health status, and provide technical guidance to veterinary students and staff. Support client caseloads through outstanding service and communicate effectively regarding patient status and procedures. This role may involve supporting other units, covering varied shifts including evenings and weekends, and requires proof of rabies titre.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) year College Diploma
- Successful completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program recognized by the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT)
- Full member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (OAVT)
- Successful completion of the Veterinary Technician Examination (VTNE) and the OAVT mandatory ethics exam
- OAVT registration is required
- One-Two (1-2) years prior experience working as an RVT
- Flexibility in scheduling availability
- The incumbent may be required to work a variety of shifts including evenings, overnights and weekends
- The successful applicant will be required to provide proof of rabies titre
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years prior anesthesia experience as an RVT preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in customer service: excellent communication and organizational skills particularly with respect to dealing with clients; ability to mentor students and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Familiarity with common computer software including Ezyvet, Smartflow, Asteris software is preferred
