Job Summary
Assist veterinarians with outpatient exams, surgery preparation, and patient monitoring while administering medications and vaccines. Collect blood and stool samples for in-house laboratory testing and radiographs, then develop and maintain all imaging following safety protocols. Handle and restrain animals during procedures, clean exam and lab areas, and restock supplies. Communicate with clients regarding care plans and educate them on veterinary procedures. Maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, and track lab specimens while collaborating with the practice team.
Required Qualifications
- Previous veterinary experience preferred
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds
- Ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
- Basic math and the ability to calculate medication dosages
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
- Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety
