Job Summary
Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams, surgery, and other tasks by taking histories, vital signs, and weights while providing client education. Prepare patients for surgery, monitor vital signs during procedures, and administer medications, anesthesia, and vaccines at the veterinarian's discretion. Obtain blood and stool samples, perform in-hospital laboratory testing, and take or develop radiographs following safety protocols. Provide basic animal handling and restraint, clean exam and lab areas, restock supplies, and maintain medical equipment. Communicate with the team and clients to ensure seamless care and high satisfaction. Monday through Friday schedule with no weekend work; $1,500 sign-on bonus available.
Required Qualifications
- State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in state of desired employment
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds
- Ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance
- Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
- Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages
- Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety
