Job Summary
Perform a full range of pulmonary function testing and respiratory care services in the PFT Lab, including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion, plethysmography, bronchodilator tests, methacholine challenge, and CPET; assist bronchoscopy and anesthesia-related testing; administer inhaled medications and manage arterial blood gas sample collection and analysis; ensure proper documentation, billing, equipment calibration, infection control, and lab maintenance; provide care during bronchoscopy and sedation, monitor patient status, and support Cardiopulmonary Exercise Stress testing; maintain licensure and participate in ongoing education.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a two year AMA approved program in Respiratory Therapy
- Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Respiratory Therapist
- Experience: Requires at least three to five years of directly related experience
- Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Pulmonary Physics, Pulmonary Pathophysiology, advanced respiratory care, mathematics, blood gas chemistry, and pharmacology
- Analytical ability to review and evaluate laboratory results, conduct respiratory assessments, and properly operate highly technical respiratory equipment
- Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with patients and healthcare professionals
- Attends required continuing education for licensure
