Job Summary
Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders while reporting directly to the Director of Respiratory Therapy. Maintain, inspect, clean, and test respiratory equipment; read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess condition. Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions and disease management techniques. Ensure respiratory care items and transport oxygen tanks are available and in stock, keeping accurate and complete records. Serve as a resource person for Certified Therapists and ancillary staff. Work independently and collaboratively within the team to ensure patient safety and experience. Located within a few steps of the hospital, with opportunities in the Sleep Lab and Extended Care.
Required Qualifications
- Associate in Respiratory Therapy
- Registered or Registry eligible with The National Board for Respiratory Care
Desired Qualifications
- New York RRT
- 1 year of experience in Respiratory Therapy
- Ability to stand, walk, and move about the facility
- Frequent lifting and carrying of equipment, up to a specified weight limit
- Fine motor skills for equipment manipulation
- Visual and auditory acuity for patient assessment and equipment monitoring
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interaction with healthcare teams
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong organizational skills for accurate record-keeping and inventory management
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach
