Job Summary
Registered Respiratory Therapist – NICU at Akron General Medical Center. Responsibilities include performing cardiopulmonary assessments, evaluating breath sounds and airway patency, reviewing radiologic results and blood gases, collaborating with physicians and nurses to optimize patient outcomes, administering medical gases and aerosolized medications, performing bronchoscopy assistance, managing invasive and non-invasive ventilation and airway devices, responding to emergencies, assisting with trauma and resuscitation, and providing patient and family education. The role serves as a preceptor for new employees and students, with PRN, variable shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., requiring 48 hours per six-week period. Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, RRT credential, Ohio license, BLS and PALS (and/or NRP/NPS as appropriate), with potential for additional credentials; the posting notes opportunities for learning, credentialing support, and career advancement within a major health system.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) License from Ohio Medical Board
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through American Heart Association (AHA) and/or Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification when appropriate for site
- Diploma and/or transcripts must be provided
