Job Summary
Lead respiratory care services for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients on ventilators by monitoring, evaluating, and making clinical judgments on therapy. Implement Respiratory Care procedures, including therapeutic and diagnostic administration of medical gases, humidification, aerosols, and medications. Provide education to staff on daily operations, competency assessments, and special procedure techniques. Manage documentation of therapy in patient records and assist in developing department standards. Conduct pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas analysis, and bedside spirometry. Monitor QA/CQI processes, gather data, and assist with equipment selection and inventory. Ensure annual competency completion for ventilators and transport devices. Provide on-call coverage for the department manager.
Required Qualifications
- AS in Respiratory Care
- Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Connecticut state licensure-Respiratory Care Practitioner
- 5 years of experience
- BLS Certification
