Job Summary
Monitor, evaluate, and make clinical judgments while providing respiratory support for ventilated patients across adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations. Implement respiratory care procedures including therapeutic and diagnostic administration of medical gases, humidification, aerosols, and medications. Perform basic assessments, postural drainage, chest physiotherapy, and ventilator assistance while maintaining accurate documentation in the patient record and Cerner electronic health record. Conduct pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas analysis, and bedside spirometry. Maintain ventilator readiness, manage mixed medical gas inventory, and ensure compliance with infection control policies. Provide instruction for students, medical staff, and patients; report necessary facts based on clinical experience. Complete annual competencies for specific ventilator models and assist with department training.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited Respiratory Care Program
- one year of experience
- Licensure in State of Connecticut, Dept. of Public Health License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)
- Maintain Registry Credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Maintain Connecticut State Licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner
