Job Summary
Evaluate and administer therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care and life support to patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Consult with physicians concerning the development and modification of patient care plans. Autonomously manage ventilator protocols to wean patients off mechanical respiratory support, with case mix including adult cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, heart and lung transplantation, interstitial lung disease, or neonatal care. Deliver evidence-based treatments alongside multidisciplinary teams at UAB Medicine, a comprehensive health system serving over 1.2 million patients annually.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
- Currently registered as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) with the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy (ASBRT)
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
