Job Summary
Evaluate and administer therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care and life support to patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. Consult with physicians to develop and modify patient care plans, autonomously managing ventilator protocols to wean patients off mechanical respiratory support. Case mix includes adult conditions such as cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, heart and lung transplantation, and interstitial lung disease, or neonatal care for the sickest babies in the region. UAB Medicine serves over 1.2 million patients annually across Alabama, operating a network of hospitals including the No. 1 ranked UAB Hospital and Magnet-designated facilities. This position offers flexible/PRN shifts with a flat rate of $31.00 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
- Currently registered as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) with the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy (ASBRT)
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- ACLS certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
