Job Summary
Evaluate and administer therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care and life support to patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Consult with physicians concerning the development and modification of patient care plans. Autonomously manage ventilator protocols and wean patients off mechanical respiratory support for complex cases including adult cystic fibrosis, heart and lung transplantation, and neonatal respiratory conditions. Flat rate of $31.00 per hour with flexi/PRN shifts. Requires RRT certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care and Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy licensure. UAB Medicine, Alabama's largest health system, serves over 1.2 million patients annually across numerous hospitals and specialty care clinics.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
- Currently registered as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) with the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy (ASBRT)
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
