Job Summary
Evaluate and administer therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care and life support to patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. Consult with physicians concerning the development and modification of patient care plans. Maintain current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care and hold Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy licensure. Complete Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of employment; Advanced Cardiac Life Support and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification may be required depending on the unit. Work as a flexi/PRN provider at UAB Medicine, Alabama's largest health system, serving over 1.2 million patients annually across numerous hospitals and sites of care.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
- Currently registered as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (LRT) with the Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy (ASBRT)
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
