Job Summary
Provide routine and advanced respiratory care, manage ventilators, and assist with bronchoscopy procedures under departmental policy, including monitoring consciousness and cardiovascular/pulmonary status and delivering IV conscious sedation. Initiates ventilator protocols, coordinates ventilator management, and performs advanced airway care such as tracheotomy changes, extubation, and intubation; initiates/highlights use of high frequency ventilators and, in NICU, surfactant delivery and related procedures. Optional duties may include transport, back-up charge therapy, and Nitric Oxide delivery. Requires an NBRC-registered Respiratory Therapist credential, NM licensure, and ACLS/PALS/BLS certifications; 2–3 years of college-level respiratory care education or an associate/diploma. Provides comprehensive respiratory care responsibilities across departments and varied shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Two to three years college level courses/Associates Degree/Diploma in Respiratory Care
- New Mexico Respiratory Care Practitioner License
- Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the NBRC
- ACLS and/or PALS , BLS required
- Six months to one year critical care experience preferred
