Job Summary
Maryland-licensed Professional Land Surveyor needed to perform and oversee property, boundary, right-of-way, and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys for transportation, infrastructure, and site development projects. Responsibilities include QA/QC of field surveys and office processing, processing field data and computations, preparing plats, maps, and legal descriptions using CAD-based workflows, reviewing deeds and prior survey records to support boundary analysis and right-of-way determinations, coordinating with internal engineering/design teams for design surveys and stakeout, and occasional visits to project sites/client offices to support field crews and participate in coordination meetings. Required: active MD PLS license, 5+ years’ relevant surveying experience (MDOT SHA experience strongly preferred), proficiency with property/boundary/ALTA/NSPS surveys, deed/record research, and modern survey instruments (total stations, GNSS/RTK) and CAD-based software; experience performing QA/QC and delivering survey deliverables. Preferred: licensure in DC and/or adjacent states, experience delivering DOT-standard surveys, LiDAR/UAV/drone-based mapping, and newer surveying technologies. Office-based in Baltimore with occasional travel to project sites and client offices; collaborative environment with engineering/design teams.
Required Qualifications
- Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the State of Maryland
- 5+ years of relevant land surveying experience including transportation/roadway/public infrastructure projects
- Strong hands-on experience with property, boundary, and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys
- Deed and record research
- Proficiency with modern survey instrumentation (total stations, GNSS/RTK) and CAD-based survey platforms
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed QA/QC on survey work and take professional responsibility for survey deliverables
