Job Summary
Ensure care is provided with established nursing standards, physicians' orders, and administrative policies by observing, reporting, and recording vital signs and symptoms. Assist in assessing patients and residents to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans while monitoring health and noting changes in condition. Process and implement physicians' orders in alignment with internal policies and standards of care. This part-time role at Extendicare's Summit Place Retirement home supports a compassionate, mission-driven team dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seniors across Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Appropriate current certificate of competence from the Approved Institutions for the province
- Registration or eligible for registration with the Approved Institutions for the province
Desired Qualifications
- Previous managerial experience in long-term care or community homecare
- Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices
- Knowledge in Infection Control Practices
- Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors
- Ability to present information clearly and effectively both verbally whether in person or over the phone, and in writing
- Active listener who projects a friendly demeanour
- Ability to collect and use information to thoroughly think through problems and situations
- Organizational, planning, time management and multi-tasking skills
