Job Summary
Provide planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with provincial standards while implementing and evaluating resident care plans. Complete and ensure clinical care assessments, care plans, and documentation are accurate and up to date. Teach, delegate, and direct unregulated care providers with coaching and mentorship. Build trusted relationships with residents, families, and the multi-disciplinary team through continuous communication. Maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
- Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification
- Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers
- Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care
- Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
- Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
- Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
